A Home Visit ECG is a convenient, safe, and non-invasive service where an ECG test is performed at the patient’s home instead of a hospital or clinic. It is ideal for elderly, bedridden, disabled, or critically ill patients who cannot travel, as well as for those who prefer comfort and privacy. The test records the electrical activity of the heart and helps in early detection of cardiac problems.
Purpose
Home Visit ECG helps in diagnosing and monitoring:
Heart rate and rhythm
Arrhythmias (irregular heartbeats)
Ongoing or past heart attacks
Angina or coronary artery disease
Conduction defects and chamber enlargement
Electrolyte imbalance
Monitoring pacemaker or cardiac medications
It provides the same clinical accuracy as a hospital ECG.
Procedure
A trained technician visits the patient’s home with a portable ECG machine.
The patient is asked to lie comfortably on a bed or suitable surface.
The skin is cleaned, and 10–12 electrodes are placed on the chest, arms, and legs.
These electrodes are connected to the portable ECG unit.
The patient is asked to stay still and breathe normally.
The ECG machine records the electrical activity of the heart and generates a waveform.
The results are available immediately and can be shared digitally with the doctor.
